Sometime during the last century I was found lurking around a train track in the dead of night with a bag of spray paint and – after one or two court appearances – it was decided that the best place for me was in an advertising agency, as a visualiser.
Following a couple of years of crafted tuition in these dark arts from one of JWT’s finest, I hotfooted it to London as an art director and was put to work on pitches and daily toil for pretty much everything. From posh cars to computers, and investment banks to airlines. Fast forward a few more years and a few more agencies and here I am occupying a well-meaning space working with some of the countries largest charities, helping them to get younger, more loyal and more engaged supporters with beautiful emotive film and online work, for less money and faster.
Of course, I might not always be lucky enough to ‘do-good’ on every job. I wouldn’t mind a crack at a three minute Apple ad if the budget was up to it, and I still like to wield a spray can in anger now and then. Anyway, it’s almost legal these days – isn’t it?
